As I have said in my earlier posts, I look far and wide outside the cake world for inspiration for my cake designs. The idea for this cup cake design came from a haute couture evening handbag that I saw in a high fashion magazine.
The handbag was covered in lots of tiny pink petals which I have recreated by cutting out and hand forming half petal shapes.
Once all the petals were in place the design looked just like I had envisaged. However, I felt that it needed an extra little sparkle, so I added some edible silver balls and glitter.

The inspiration for these dainty cupcakes came from a sea of little white flowers that sprung up in a local park this spring.
I made two sizes of white flowers and arranged them on a bed of green icing to represent the grass that I had seen in the park.

Inspiration for my cake designs can spring from anywhere. These cupcakes incorporate the flower shapes and colours that I saw on a cushion in a shop window.
As the background colour for the flowers was brown I decided to use chocolate cupcakes topped with chocolate icing.
As you can see I have highlighted each flower with hand piped accents and each one is placed into a matching decorative lace wrapper.

These delightful little pink rose bud cupcakes were created for a special Mother’s Day lunch recently.
I used a background of soft pinks and greens to accentuate the vivid pink of the rosebuds. Each bud and leaf is handmade and I piped the swirls on edge freehand.
This beautiful design of cupcake is not only ideal for a Mother’s Day lunch but would also be suitable for Weddings, Birthdays and even Valentines day with perhaps just a colour change.

Now the clocks have sprung forward an hour and we’re on the way to Easter I had an idea to create some seasonal little cup cakes. These delicate miniature daffodils are scattered everywhere in my garden and I thought they would be perfect for the top of the cup cakes.
Each flower is individually hand made and placed on top of a beautifully moist vanilla sponge cup cake.
