Hello everyone. Just completed this fantastic 1st rosette birthday cake for Emma who likes horses and likes to win too.
It’s been created in pastel blues, yellows, and greens with pretty flowers around the base (she doesn’t like pink but the cake still looks pretty).
Fortunately I had a rosette in the house to model this from. My husband came first in a classic car show with his Rover P6 and it’s usually hung up on his computer. It is always a great help if you have an actual item in front of you that you are making so you can see all the details and shape from every angle – obviously if you were modelling something like a horse this wouldn’t apply….lol.
After creating the ribbons and rosette in modelling paste the cake was completed by piping 1st Emma and Happy 11th Birthday… and the cake was absolutely loved by the little lady.

Inspired by watching Downton Abbey and old episodes of Poirot I wanted to create a beautiful Art Deco style wedding cake. Each tier has it’s own distinct style, the top one takes it cue from 1930’s cinemas and other similar buildings, the second from flapper dress fabrics popular at the time.

The third tier takes it’s ideas from cabaret and jazz clubs and the lower tier depicts a wedding scene, complete with the happy couple, a Rolls Royce and the church on the hill.
All the fine details were hand cut out to create this unique cake. The only bought cutter used on this cake was for the dainty pink flowers around the band.

This cake was designed for someone who is passionate about sports cars as a surprise for both his and his wifes birthdays.
The car was hand crafted into shape with the couple sat in the car cruising down a country lane with wind in her hair.
The grass was piped and flowers placed on a border on a plack. The windscreen frame is the only piece that is not icing, it being made from florist wire.
The cake was decorated around the sides with stripes and more flowers and then the couples name.
