I was commissioned to create this bespoke wedding cake with its cascade of hand-crafted flowers for a couple who loves owls. These cute owls sit on the branch of the delicately hand-painted bride and groom’s names in a beautiful script font.
Small pink roses, purple pansies, pink hydrangeas and tiny lily of the valley flowers adorn this one tier fruit cake. All of them made from petal paste and some piped royal icing for the the lily of the valley stems.
The owls were gently sitting with the names so it would compliment the design and add to the overall effect.
These hand-made owls are so cute…looking into each others eyes that they make this a special and unique wedding cake.

Well this is the final ‘Painting on Icing’ out of the trio (for the moment). Another one I will hopefully get around to creating a cake for from my designs…the list is getting longer.
Another inspired design from some wallpaper I bought. This was not traced but painted straight on the sugarpaste so the design is only influenced by the wallpaper. Each flower was painted with 2 coates to get the thick colour and the red ones were then painted in edible varnish (which doesn’t show on screen).
The leaves on the wallpaper were totally the wrong shape for poppy leaves so I changed that too.
This would look good and be very effective on a wedding or celebration cake with 3D petal paste poppies on top to finish off.

Inspired by watching Downton Abbey and old episodes of Poirot I wanted to create a beautiful Art Deco style wedding cake. Each tier has it’s own distinct style, the top one takes it cue from 1930’s cinemas and other similar buildings, the second from flapper dress fabrics popular at the time.
The third tier takes it’s ideas from cabaret and jazz clubs and the lower tier depicts a wedding scene, complete with the happy couple, a Rolls Royce and the church on the hill.
All the fine details were hand cut out to create this unique cake. The only bought cutter used on this cake was for the dainty pink flowers around the band.

This comission was for an elegant ivory coloured wedding cake covered in edible lace and lace roses delicately placed on top.
Around each tier a delicate edible lace in white was place over the ivory coloured sugarpaste for a subtle and stylish contrast.
Mounted on the cake to finish the design were some beautiful hand made roses created in the same delicate lace.
The cake is pictured displayed on the optional silver wedding cake stand which can be included for an additional charge.

This fabulous lavendar cake was designed for a ladies 80th Birthday party. The corner detail would also be fantastic as a multi tiered wedding cake.
The hand cut out 80 was covered in edible lace and then highlighted in tiny dots piped around the edges.
All four corners have been decorated with stylised lavendar growing from the base and on to the cake top. First the green stems were iced, then purple for the flowers and a final flourish of green leaves.

I received a birthday present earlier this year and the wrapping paper gave me an idea to decorate a cake which was inspired by the colours and shapes.
There are a variety of techniques involved in creating this cake. Firstly I sprayed aqua and white over the torquoise icing to give it different textures.
Then I applied coloured royal icing using a paintbrush. Followed by piping white flowers on it.
It was then finished off with gold and pearlescent spray.
This technique can be used in a variety of different ways, so if you’d like me to decorate a similar cake as a centre piece for your special occasion then please feel free to contact me for a quote.
